Is Your Self-care Routine Becoming a Drag?

I used to have trouble practicing what I preach in relation to maintaining a self-care practice. That was because trying to stick to a spiritual/mindful practice and self-care routine during extra busy times (and then exerting even more pressure by being hard on myself when I couldn’t keep it up) didn’t really work well for me. What usually works much better is mindful self-care; in other words, checking in with myself in relation to what I truly need the most in that moment or that day; rotating positive energy rituals; skipping a day here and there and compensating with extra self-care in the next couple of days; etc. In short, keeping it flexible… and giving myself grace when I’m not perfect.

Bottom Line: If your self-care routine isn’t working for you, exploring your options and changing it to suit your needs is always better than just giving up on it. If you don’t have a self-care practice, it’s time to start one! That would make a great New Year resolution, BTW ;)
